Season 6 Week 9 Fortnite Battle Pass Guide

Here’s our Battle Pass Guide for your Week 9 challenges! This week’s challenges are more based around using explosives, which are some of the most powerful weapons in Fortnite at the moment, especially with the new addition of dynamites.

You can check out our write up below for detailed tips and tricks! If you'd prefer something more compact, scroll to the bottom for Squatingdog's cheat sheet. Good luck with finding Grenade Launchers to finish up all of them!

Free Challenges

Get 30s of airtime in a vehicle (0/30)

Since you don’t need to do all of this in one jump, this is a really easy to complete. You simply need to grab a Shopping Cart, ATK, or Quadcrasher and jump around on the craters at the corrupted areas. Another method is to use a bunch of balloons while in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

If you’re just driving around on the Quadcrasher or ATK even you’ll tend to get good airtime going off hills at max speed.

Here’s a map of Quadcrasher spawns (which now have a 100% spawn rate) that you can use to help speed things up:

Get a score of 10 or more on different Carnival Clown Boards (0/3)

This isn’t very difficult so much as time consuming since the boards are spread out across the map. Here’s a clip of what the challenge entails:

When you start the challenge, you need to burst the balloons that inflate by hitting them with your pickaxe. You can find all the clown boards at the locations marked on this map:

Some extra notes on this challenge:

  • Beware of other people attempting to complete this challenge, especially at the start of week 9.
    • It would be better for you to land at nearby areas, survive, and make your way to the clown boards instead of just landing at the clown board.
  • Before you start attempting the minigame, do a scope of the area first and make sure that you’re alone
  • Keep moving around while you’re doing this challenge so that you’re not an easy sniper target

Stage 1 - 4: Gain shield using various methods (0/5) (HARD)

Stage 1: Consume Mushrooms

  • You can find mushrooms in heavily shaded areas such as forests
    • Dusty Divot, Wailing Woods, Lonely Lodge all have mushrooms
    • You can also find them in the forests to the north of Retail Row and the west of Pleasant Park tend to have lots of mushrooms too

Stage 2: Gain 75 shield using Small Shield Potions

  • You will have to take some shield damage before being able to consume the third mini for the final 51-75 shield.
    • Using dynamite or a grenade on yourself would be one way to do this safely

Stage 3: Gain 100 shield using Shield Potions

Stage 4: Gain shield using a Chug Jug

There really isn't a trick past the 1st stage for these challenges, since it involves you finding shield potions. Our best suggestion for this is to land in less crowded areas with a fair amount loot spawns, such as Lonely Lodge, Lucky Landing, West World (the southernmost settlement to the south of Paradise Palms). These areas have a load of chests that can go relatively unchallenged, giving you more chances to find what you need to complete the challenge!

Battle Pass Challenges

Deal damage to players with a Clinger, Stink Bomb or Grenade (0/300)

These are the options given to you for this particular challenge. This challenge is actually pretty simple as it's very easy to deal damage with all three items:

  • Downed targets are the easiest to rack damage up with using these weapons:
    • If you throw any of these items onto a downed target, you could very easily end up killing the guy
  • Stink Bombs are usually extremely easy to deal damage with
    • Look to use them on people who are turtling - throwing a Stink Bomb at their 1x1 will force them to either leave it or suffocate
      • Clingers and Grenades are probably the faster options to use to complete this challenge as they are much less rare though
  • Clingers take a little bit to get used to, but it's actually surprisingly easy to land a stick onto someone
    • In the early game, landing a stick usually results in a clean kill
    • You can also attach Clingers to your teammates and get them to suicide bomb enemies, but this tactic tends to be less effective despite multitudes more entertaining
    • If you stick two Clingers to a low-hp wall, shooting and breaking the wall will trigger the immediate explosion of both Clingers and cause damage to whoever is behind it.
      • This is an effective way of killing somebody hiding behind a wall
  • Grenades are trickier to aim, since they bounce around a lot after being tossed.
    • A good way to get kills it to lob them over walls or into rooms where you know people are hiding.
      • This either forces them to run from their cover, or for slower players, eat a lot of damage and potentially die
    • If you know people are hiding in a basement, just spamming the grenades down into the basement can usually result in a clean kill.
  • Note that all these items can be tossed through windows

Deal damage to opponent structures with Dynamite (0/10,000)

Dynamite is the newest addition to Fortnite, and has one of the largest explosion radii of all explosives in the game. In addition, they do massive structure damage as well, exploding for 800 a charge.

Here are some tips for using it and completing this challenge:

  • The dynamite’s 5-second fuse starts ticking the moment you hold left click to display the aiming reticle
    • You should probably throw it before it explodes in your hand
  • For the purposes of this challenge, the best way to do this is hold onto the dynamite charges you have, and save it for when you come across an abandoned build fight
    • Once you find the build fight, you should chuck the dynamite in the center of it and just run
      • The explosion radius and damage should result in you getting significant progress towards the completion of this challenge per charge
  • Due to the size of the explosion radius, it’s pretty difficult to use the dynamite while you’re build fighting somebody else without damaging your own supports too
    • If you do decide to use it while in the middle of a fight, you should be ready to do the following:
      • Take a shotgun shot at your enemy when they fall down to the floor with you
      • Build up for high ground the second you take that shot

Rocket or Grenade Launcher Eliminations (0/3) (HARD)

The most difficult part of this challenge is finding the weapons. They'll become more available as the game progresses since they tend to come from Supply Drops most of the time. You could also use a vending machine to speed it up.

  • Grenade Launchers (100/105/110 damage)
    • These are some of the most difficult weapons to use well, but one of the easiest to use at an average level.
    • Normally, you want to aim so that the grenades fly over your opponents' structures and explode to hurt them
    • You can also aim so that the grenades land at the bottom of their structures and destroy the foundations that their base is built on
    • You can extend the range of the grenades by bouncing them off the top of a ramp, which will make them bounce higher
  • Rocket Launchers (116/121 damage)
    • Don’t accidentally blow yourself up using these.
      • Rocket Launchers have a lot of splash and if you use them close range, it is very likely that you might explode yourself
    • There’s two ways generally to get good damage off using the Rocket Launcher
      • The first to to shoot it at the ground between you and an unprotected enemy
      • The second is to shoot it at an enemy who is hiding behind a wall, and use an AR to break down the wall while the rocket is still travelling

Stage 1-3: Deal damage with _______ to opponents (0/100) (HARD)

Stage 1: Deal damage with Grenades

Stage 2: Deal damage with Grenade Launchers

Stage 3: Deal damage with Rocket Launchers

  • These are really straightforward challenges - all you need to do is land one hit with either of them!
  • Just scroll up to see the previous tips on how to use these weapons!
